Penny Boden

My Story & CV

Hi there! I'm Penny Boden. That's Rosie on my shoulder. I grew up by the wooded shores of Cowichan Lake in Honeymoon Bay BC Canada.

Mom raised all 4 of us kids with a love of natural living. We were all involved with March Meadows Golf & Country Club, where Dad was Golf Pro. My art was encouraged by my parents grandparents and teachers.

Granny and Grandpa Whale built a very successful art business when they were near age 50. Sadly Grampa died just a few years later but his paintings and sculptures continued to inspire me. Granny continued Whale's Arts and Ceramics until she retired. I loved sculpting in clay when I visited Granny! I usually made cats.

Mostly I was happy drawing with graphite pencil. It was the immediacy of the medium I loved so much. With encouragement I did dabble in other media but when given a choice I always migrated back to basic drawing.

Life went on and I grew up. As a young mom I left my homeland and moved to the North Peace Region of BC. The joys of raising 3 awesome kids left little time for anything else. When the kids became more independent the artist in me resurfaced!

I'm back in the Cowichan Valley and my forte is still drawing. It serves as a great foundation for my printmaking and painting. My inspiration is my love of nature and cats!

I'm an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and have won a few awards. My work can be found in private and corporate collections around the world!

Thanks for reading! Check out my CV below...
