8X6" linocut "ghost" print in an edition of 18 on 250gsm Stonehenge fine art paper

This original hand pulled linocut print was created using professional archival artist materials only. Due to the hand printing process, each print is slightly different and unique. This variation is the only "ghost" print in the edition. A ghost print is the second print taken off the plate without reinking. Ghost prints are lighter and have a characteristic, almost vintage look. They are quite sought after by some collectors!

I'm always honoured to see the stately Great Horned Owl. This one sat in a tree in the middle of the day, allowing me to get some great photos! I am a life-long bird lover and owls are a favourite. It was a joy creating this fun expressive owl print! I hope someone else loves it as much as I do.

Here’s how I create a single colour linocut print:

1. I draw a design and carve it into a linoplate
2. I ink up a brayer and roll the ink onto the plate
3. I centre art paper over the inked plate
4. I run it through a printmaking press
5. I pull off the paper and, voila! A print appears!
